Editorial policy

Dates & Times exists to answer everyday date and time questions with numbers you can check. This policy explains how we source figures, who is accountable for them, how we fact-check, and how we use AI tools.

How we source

Every number we publish is traced to a named UK source. Bank-holiday dates come from the gov.uk Bank Holidays API. Working-day and population comparisons use the Office for National Statistics (ONS). Holiday-entitlement rules follow GOV.UK and the Working Time Regulations 1998, and tax and payroll dates, where used, follow HMRC. We do not publish a figure we cannot attribute to one of these official sources. If a source updates, the page updates with it.

Who edits this site

Dates & Times is edited by Oliver Mackman, a director of the operating company Best Business Loans Ltd (company number 16833937) and the named editor accountable for its editorial standards and sourcing. He is responsible for making sure each tool cites the right source and that corrections are handled promptly.

Fact-checking and tools

Our calculators are built to show their working. Each one sets out the date maths it uses and the official UK source behind the result, so you can follow the logic and verify it yourself. Before a tool or data page is published, its method is checked against the primary source and its output is tested against known dates. This is general calendar and time information, not legal or employment advice; confirm anything that matters with gov.uk or your employer.

Corrections

If you spot an error or something out of date, email [email protected] with the page URL. We review correction reports promptly, fix confirmed errors, and update the page date when a figure or method changes. See the contact page for more ways to reach us.

Use of AI tools

We may use AI tools to help draft and structure explanatory text. AI is never the source of a figure. Every claim, date and calculation is checked against a named official source before it is published, and the editor is accountable for the result. We do not publish AI-generated numbers that we have not verified.

Independence and advertising

Dates & Times is funded by display advertising. We do not sell products or services, run no lead forms, and do not collect your details. Advertising never decides which dates, figures or sources we publish; that is governed only by the official UK sources above and the editor's review.
